Biography

Steve Moore retired in January of 2019 after a 35 plus year career as a county employee, with the San Joaquin County Sheriff's Office, serving twelve years as the elected Sheriff-Coroner-Public-Administrator in San Joaquin County.

Steve began his law enforcement career with the Oxnard Police Department as a Police Explorer (a division of the Boy Scouts of America) ultimately becoming a Police Officer in September of 1978.

Steve came to San Joaquin County in July of 1982 as a lateral transfer to the Sheriff's Office. Relocating to San Joaquin County was a homecoming for his wife Robyn who grew up in the Linden area and was excited to be returning.

Steve holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminology, earned an adult teaching credential, is a graduate of the FBI National Academy 185th session and also served as the President of the California State Sheriff's Association (CSSA).

After retiring in January 2019, Steve continues to serve the community with his participation as a director for the San Joaquin County Farm Bureau Federation, Community Partnership for Families, Retired Public Employees of San Joaquin County RPESJC and was appointed as a trustee to the county employee's retirement association SJCERA as the alternate trustee representing retired employees. Steve has also maintained his activities as a member of the Linden Lions Club, Tracy Rotary Club, Stockton Branch NAACP, the Waterloo Athletic Club and other community organizations.

Steve has enjoyed his years of service to the residents of San Joaquin County and looks forward to being able to continuing his service as a member of the County Board of Supervisors, as the elected Supervisor representing the residents of District Four.

Steve possesses a true working knowledge of County Government, and enjoys working relationships with many of the County Department heads both elected and appointed. This level of experience will allow Steve to readily engage in the business of the board representing the concerns of District Four and San Joaquin County as a whole!
